What’s The Difference Between Coaching & Consulting?
You can go to the store to buy your fish (coaching), or you can learn how to fish (consulting). That’s the basic difference between coaching and consultation.
A store owner will suggest what fish you should purchase;
a fisherman will show you how to catch your own fish.
Consulting
- Provide expertise and information about a certain business field.
- Offer to carry out a certain work or project. The service has a deadline.
- Provides specific expertise and training to address gaps in information, then provides the specific information needed to make informed decisions and complete the goal or project.
Coaching
- Utilize your current talent, abilities, know-how, and experience to expand and develop it.
- Outline processes and goals through strategic planning.
- Decide on activities, locate resources, create plans to reduce or remove obstacles, establish a system for accountability, and specify the help needed to be successful.
